Staying signed in

On the website, the sign-in page has a box marked Keep me signed in on this device. It's checked to start with, so you'll stay signed in for 30 days at a time, renewed as you use FutureRoots. On a shared or public computer, uncheck it before you sign in.

In the app: The app keeps you signed in on your phone. To protect it if your phone is borrowed or lost, turn on App Lock.

Why you were signed out

If you unchecked Keep me signed in on this device when you signed in, you're signed out when you close the browser, or after about 30 minutes with nothing happening. That keeps your family's space safe on a computer someone else might use. While you're actively using FutureRoots, it won't sign you out in the middle of something.

Nothing is lost when this happens. Sign in again and you'll be right back where your family's things are.

If you forgot your password

  1. On the sign-in page, choose Forgot your password?
  2. Enter the email address you signed up with.
  3. Open the email we send you and choose the link in it.
  4. Choose a new password.

The link works once and expires in an hour. If it has expired, start again from step 1. No email after a few minutes? Check your spam or junk folder, and make sure it's the address you signed up with.

Changing your email address

  1. On the website, open your account menu (your picture or initials, in the top corner) and choose My profile.
  2. Under Change your email, enter your new address and your current password.
  3. Choose Send confirmation link.
  4. Open the email we send to your new address and choose the link in it.

Nothing changes until you open that link, so you can keep signing in with your old address in the meantime.

Joining from an invitation

When someone in your family invites you, you get an email with a link to join.

  1. Open the link in the invitation email.
  2. Choose Join your family.
  3. If you're new to FutureRoots, you'll create your account first. Use the same email address the invitation was sent to.

A few things that help:

  • An invitation only works for the email address it was sent to. If you'd rather use a different address, ask whoever invited you to send a new invitation to that one.
  • Invitations expire after 14 days, and each one works once. If yours has expired, ask your family member to send a new one.
  • Joining is free, and it stays free. You never need a card to join or to take part.
  • Already signed in with the right address? Your invitation also waits for you under My families on the website, or in the app under Menu, then Invitations.

Only a parent can invite someone to join as a parent. More on roles in family roles explained.
