Were you invited by someone already on FutureRoots? You don't need to create a family. Open the link in your invitation email instead, and see joining from an invitation.
Creating your family
- Go to futureroots.app and choose to sign up. Enter your name, email, and a password, agree to the terms, and choose Create account.
- Open the email we send you and choose the link in it to confirm your address.
- Sign in.
- Under Start a new family space, type a family name (like "The Rivera family") and choose Create.
In the app: After signing up and signing in, tap Start a family space on Home.
Every new family starts with three months of the Room to Grow plan, on us. No card, nothing to cancel, and nothing is charged when it ends. See your first three months.
Adding a child
A child has a profile in your family, not an account of their own. Each child gets a vault: the place their photos, voice notes, and milestones are kept. A parent or guardian adds them.
- Open your family's page.
- Under Children, choose Add a child.
- Enter their first name and birthday.
- Check the box giving your consent, as their parent or guardian, to create their profile.
- Choose whether FutureRoots may store the photos, videos, and voice notes your family adds for them: Yes, save them, or Not for now. Either answer is fine, and you can change it later.
- If you chose Yes, save them, you can add a photo of them too.
- Choose Add child.
In the app: Tap Kids, then Add a child.
Adding your first memory
- Choose Add a memory on your family's page (in the app, on Home).
- Pick the child it's for.
- Attach a photo or a voice note, or just write a few words.
- Give it a title, and save it.
Photos and voice notes need the "Yes, save them" choice from the step above. If you chose "Not for now," written memories still work. More in adding a memory.
Inviting grandparents and family
- Choose Invite family on your family's page (in the app, on Home).
- Type their email address.
- Choose who they are to the family: grandparent, aunt, cousin, and so on.
- Send it.
They get an email with a link to join. Joining is free, and they never need a card to take part. The invitation works for 14 days. More in inviting a family member.
Setting up the FutureRoots Fund
The FutureRoots Fund lets family give a child a gift toward their future. It's optional, and you can set it up whenever you're ready.
- Open the child's vault on the website.
- On the FutureRoots Fund card, choose Set up Maya's FutureRoots Fund (it shows your child's name).
- Follow Stripe's secure pages to confirm who you are and add your bank account.
In the app: Setting up a fund happens on the website. Once it's ready, family can give from the app too.
